FAQ
Q: How does the 102C compare to the other filters offered by Saturn Audio?
A: All Saturn Audio 101 series filters are based on the same capacitance circuit design. The performance of each model is equal to the pricing. We prefer to say "you get what you pay for" across our model lineup.
Q: I heard that power filters kill the sound or cause more problems than they solve. Is this true?
A: Yes, many so called filter products are primarily surge protectors/voltage range protectors with very minimal filtration such as small choke filters.
Q: Aren't filters current limiting? Won't my amplifier be starved for power?
A: Yes, certain filter designs can be limited in their ability to pass through the full current required by amplifiers and total system requirements. Saturn Audio employs capacitance based filtering which does not limit current flow.
Q: Why do I need a filter? Doesn't the power authority deliver good power to my home?
A: In North America the power grid is very stable and reliable. Power line noise is introduced to the power grid from industrial, commercial and residential activities. In fact, we were able to easily measure industrial noise from a major factory 15km from our R&D facility. The majority of noise in a residential home is generated internally from TV's, LED and CFL lights, dimmer switches, switching power supplies (wall warts) and motors (fridge, furnace, AC, water heater etc.). Even digital products such as routers, DAC's and streamers contaminate the power line.
Q: Is this necessary? Doesn't my gear already filter my power?
A: Though most audio equipment has a basic filter capacity built in, it is significantly under represented when compared to the amount required to eliminate most power line noise.
